How do I buy a box?

You can sign up to buy a box in one of two ways:

1. Join our email broadcast that advertises our weekly menus every Sunday. Follow the link in the email to buy a box.

2. Visit our website and click on Buy A Box to view the weekly menu and make your purchase.

How much is a weekly box?

The cost of each box depends on the menu for that week. Having a flexible cost allows us to curate more diverse and interesting menus while making sure our customers and our vendors get the best deal. All shares will usually range in price between $65 - $85.

How does it work?

Sign-up for the new menu on Sunday afternoon through Wednesday at midnight. Those who purchase a box will receive a newsletter email on Friday detailing the share contents and providing nutritional information, fun food facts, recipes and suggestions. Pick-ups are on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings depending on the pick-up location you choose during sign-up.

When and where can I pick up my box?

For our customers’ convenience, we have multiple pick-up spots shown on the map below. We intend to offer more locations and times as the demand grows. During checkout, you will be prompted to choose your preferred pick-up location/time. Your assigned box will be waiting for you at that location during the allocated pick-up timeframe. If you need to switch your pick-up location, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. We do not carry extra shares on hand.

What if I miss my pick-up window?

Please set reminders in your phone or calendar to pick up your box! The Hungry Locavore team will reach out to you 30 minutes prior to the end of the pick-up window to confirm that you are on your way. If you do not receive our call or our voice message in time and you miss the pick-up window, we must then return it to our commercial kitchen for storage in refrigeration. Since this involves extra time, energy and travel, a $30 fee will be incurred to re-arrange your pick-up at a different location. If your box is not picked up by Sunday evening, we will donate it to a local family in need.

Can I make substitutions for items I don't want?

The Hungry Locavore respects your dietary needs and if a prepared food does not meet your need (for example, vegan, gluten-free, nut allergies, etc.), we will certainly work with you to substitute the dish in question with additional produce items of a similar value. Please use the comments section during sign-up to notify us of a request for substitution. 

If you simply dislike any of the items on the menu, we encourage you to share with family, friends or neighbors!
